ASEPA PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON THE NEW MEXICAN AMBASSADOR TO GHANA HIS EXCELLENCY ENRIQUE ESCORZA
At the invitation of the Mexican Embassy, a team from ASEPA paid a courtesy call on the New Ambassador His Enrique Escorza yesterday at Mexican Embassy here in Accra.
The Ambassador expressed great acknowledgment of the role ASEPA is playing in Ghana’s democratic space and most importantly its role in the fight against corruption in Ghana.
He bemoaned how corruption cuts across various Countries and Continents and how Mexico is not an exception but he was also quick to add that strict measures, reform and policies spearheaded by the Mexican President, His Excellency Andres Lopez Obrador, the Country has chalked great successes even though there still remains much more to do in the fight against Corruption in Mexico
One of the key reforms he stressed on was the Asset Declaration Regime of Mexico, where public officials are expected to make their declarations in public, declare all their possessions including jewelries and also assets and interests of their spouses.Apart from the Asset Declaration, the Mexicans also have the Conflict of Interest Declarations, where public officials are expected to declare all their interests or the interests of their spouses in private corporations.

This he stressed has not totally eliminated corruption in the Country, but has helped minimized it among public officials a great deal.
The Embassy has shared with us legal frameworks and reforms which can be looked into, localize and integrate it into our own anti-corruption framework.
We are happy to study the Mexican example in the fight against corruption and how we can also learn from it to improve our fight against corruption that is currently threatening the stability of our Country.
We are Grateful to the Mexican Embassy for this interaction and we hope this foster more stronger relationship between ASEPA GHANA and Mexican Embassy in Ghana.
Mensah Thompson Executive Director, ASEPA
